Supplier Code of Conduct
Introduction
As a member of the electronic components industry, Marushin Electric Mfg. Co., Ltd. is committed to building a sustainable and ethical society together with all its suppliers. This policy outlines the Company’s expectations for its suppliers in the areas of social responsibility, environmental stewardship, respect for human rights, and adherence to high ethical standards.
1. Compliance with Laws and Regulations
Compliance with Japanese laws: Suppliers must strictly comply with all applicable laws and regulations in Japan, including those related to labor, environment, occupational health and safety, product regulations, and import/export controls.
For overseas facilities, compliance with both local laws and international standards is required.
2. Labor and Human Rights
Prohibition of Child and Forced Labor: Any form of child labor or forced labor is strictly prohibited.
Prohibition of Discrimination and Harassment: Discrimination or harassment based on nationality, gender, belief, or other personal attributes must not be tolerated. Suppliers must ensure a fair, safe, and respectful working environment.
Proper Working Conditions: Suppliers must comply with legal standards for working hours, breaks, holidays, and minimum wages, and must protect workers’ rights.
Respect for Freedom of Association: Suppliers must not interfere with workers’ rights to associate freely and to engage in collective bargaining.
3. Environmental Protection and Chemical Management
Compliance with Environmental Laws: Suppliers must comply with all environmental laws regarding waste management, wastewater, noise, and air pollution.
Chemical Substance Management in the Electronics Industry: Suppliers must manage hazardous substances appropriately and ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., RoHS, REACH, PFAS regulations).
Disclosure of Chemical Content in Products: Suppliers are expected to cooperate in maintaining chemical transparency through tools such as JAMP (Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium) or chemSHERPA.
Promotion of Energy and Resource Conservation: Suppliers are expected to reduce the consumption of energy and water in manufacturing and logistics, and to continuously improve toward more sustainable operations.
4. Ethics and Compliance
Prohibition of Bribery and Corruption: All forms of bribery and corruption are strictly prohibited. Suppliers must engage in honest and transparent business practices.
Compliance with Competition Laws: Suppliers must not engage in unfair trade practices, including price-fixing, collusion, or false advertising.
Protection of Intellectual Property and Confidential Information: Suppliers must appropriately handle and protect the intellectual property, trade secrets, and personal information of the Company and third parties.
5. Conflict Minerals
Suppliers must not use minerals that may serve as a source of funding for armed groups or contribute to human rights abuses.
6. Supply Chain Responsibility
Suppliers are expected to promote responsible practices throughout their own supply chains, including subcontractors and downstream suppliers, in alignment with this Code of Conduct.
Suppliers must cooperate with audits, investigations, and corrective actions when requested.
7. Response to Violations
In the event of a violation of this policy, the Company may conduct investigations and request corrective measures.
If corrective actions are not taken, the Company reserves the right to limit or terminate business transactions.
8. Closing Statement
The Company seeks to build an honest and sustainable electronic components industry in cooperation with all of its business partners. Through this Code of Conduct, we aim to foster stronger trust and create shared social value.
